 Dear Sally and Emily,

I want to apologize in advance for what I have planned for tomorrow. This morning, I found you staring out the balcony door at all the snow and you wanted to play with it. In fact, I was a little annoyed by your enthusiasm. So tomorrow, I will let you find out why you're not supposed to go out play in the snow.  Be prepared to get wet (and cold) feet!

But I'll make it up to you on Christmas Eve because I plan to give you a little treat as well. So be excited for that.

Dear Carisha,

I'm sorry you have fleas. I don't know where they came from, since you are an indoor cat, and I wish they'd stayed outside. You have severe reactions to flea bites (the vet said you were allergic. I think I'd be allergic to things nomming on me too) and I hate seeing how beautiful you are on the upper half of yourself when your bottom half is so thin and the red skin so obvious. It hurts me to see it!

However, the torture spray earlier? It was a Christmas present from my roommate for you. I'm sure it hurt (you jumped and meowed enough, and you are normally very quiet!) I didn't enjoy holding you down to get the stuff on you and I'm praying it works. If you need the second dosage though, can you please refrain from clawing my wrist? A little closer to my hand and people would think I was sucicidal!

I love you baby girl. May not always appreciate your demands for attention, but you are my baby and better than any child could be. I hope we kill these fleas and keep them away from you for the rest of your life.

Dear O'Jay:

I am very very excited. This is your first holiday away from the shelter. And you were there such a long time. I'm sad that you never had any Christmases. I know Miss Jackie and the other shelter helpers decorate and give you special holiday treatses. But you've always been in a cage or sharing a room with other kitties. Now you get to have your own home for the holidays.

But it's important to note that decorations are not for noms. We're okay with sniffings and rubbings and even swattings; we didn't put up anything breakable just for that reason. :) But plastic is not yummy.

We're glad you like the tree--or rather, that you liked the box the tree came in. Sorry, but it had to go back in the garage, because Mommy was tired of tripping over it. Now, once the ornaments are on the tree, you will NOT be allowed to take them off. Yes, they're shiny and dangling, but ornaments go ON a tree: not under it, not around it, and not in other rooms. I know that when you're around, things tend to migrate (and just where did my other slipper go?!) But please leave the tree intact. Take a cue from your sister and just look, or take a nap under it.

Finally, please note that boxes under the tree are not for kitties. Kitties will have presents, but those are not them. So kindly refrain from unwrapping or nomming on them.

It's been over three years, and I still miss you. I think about you a lot. Me and you grew up together, and had some great times over the 19 years that you were around. Getting you was my earliest memory, and one of my best. I loved it when you used to walk me to my busstop every morning, and wait until I got on the bus to go back to the house. I didn't love that you were so mean to Buddy after we took him in though lol.

I miss you girl!
